A Buckeyes and Wolverines Fan Partnership #SALVIN
Our Story Through My Eyes

Business Partnership
A business partnership in many ways is like a marriage. Lives are shared, families become intertwined, and honesty and trust must be transparent. For a partnership to truly work, especially in the beginning where there is a senior partner, you cannot have the mentality where you are “keeping score.” There may in fact, be an imbalance of production, but if both parties understand that the imbalance is temporary or that partners bring different strengths to the table and have the mindset that it is a symbiotic relationship where both parties benefit regardless of who benefits more, a partnership can truly be rewarding to a business.
I never really wanted to remain as a solo practitioner. Since my days as a US Navy dentist, I’ve enjoyed the camaraderie of working as a team. Having a colleague affords new ideas from different perspectives to be expanded. It also allows sharing of responsibilities and has allowed me to truly spend quality time with my family while on vacation with the peace of mind that I did not have when I was working solo. After all, family was the underlying reason that I chose to do what I do.
Dr. Meyrowitz and I share some similar interests. We both love sports, travel and most of all spending time with our families. The biggest mystery however is how I, an Ohio State Buckeye fan, and Dr. Meyrowitz, a Michigan Wolverine fan, can even coexist. We have very different backgrounds and personalities. I tend to be the classic type A personality; I want things done yesterday. Everything is super organized and planned out well in advance. Dr. Meyrowitz tends to be more of the type B personality. His strengths are his willingness to listen and his kindness and compassion. His strengths lend perfectly to tackling some of the practice building/managerial responsibilities while my strengths are more suited to the undertaking of other responsibilities. Because of our cohesive working relationship, our wives typically refer to us as #Salvin.
More importantly, what we share has been our common beliefs that have shaped L&M Orthodontics’ core values: Excellence, Integrity, Personal Care. What’s more, although we both love what we do, we share the idea that being an orthodontist is what we do and not who we are. This mindset has personally enabled me to adhere to and not compromise my beliefs and my faith.
